Welcome to St. Gallen!

We warmly welcome you to the tournament as part of the World Curling Tour (WCT) and are delighted to host you in our region and at the St. Gallen Curling Hall. We wish you exciting games, fair competition, and a fantastic time in St. Gallen!​ The tournament now takes place from Friday to Monday.

 

The game mode is that the group matches are played first. The quarter-finals take place on Sunday evening and the semi-finals and finals on Monday.

Rules

The tournament is played under the rules from WCF (World Curling Federation) issue October 2018. Only WCF approved pads are allowed on the brooms. There is one time out allowed. During the time out both coaches can go to their teams. After the fourth end a mid-game break of maximum 3 minutes is allowed.

Round Robin Games

  • All games are played to eight ends. A one stone shootout will be played if the result is tied. The Team with hammer plays second in the shootout.

  • The round robin games will have a timelimit of 115 minutes. The clock starts when the offical starts the game.

  • When time has expired, the last stone of the current end has to be played and the teams can play the last end.

Win: 3 Points

Win after shootout: 2 Points

Lose after shootout: 1 Point

Lose: 0 Points

Pregame and LSD

  • There is a pregame practice with LSD before every round robin game.

  • The first named team plays the red coloured stones and has the first pregame practice. The pregame practice is 5 minutes per team.

  • The pregame practice begins 15 minutes before each game. After the pregame practice there will be played one LSD (last draw shot) to determine the hammer.

  • Out or in handle is the choice of the player.

  • The best three results out of four (Boys), or four out of five (Girls), will be counted for the DSC results.

  • If the LSD is on the pin, there is going to be a two point measurement.

  • The sum of the LSDs is used for the standings after the round robin.

Playoffs

  • After the round robin there will be an overall ranking with all groups.

    • Teams will be ranked according to their points.

    • If two or more teams are tied, the DSC will determine the ranking

  • The higher ranked team after the round robin has the choice of stone colour or hammer in the first end. The team with hammer will have the first pregame practice.

  • The first two teams advance direct to the semi-final.

  • The next four are qualified for the quarter final.

  • The losers of the quarter final are ranked 5th, losers of the sem-final play for third and fourth place
